Grading Class Participation:5% Class Presentation:15%  In-depth reading  Clear articulation of the problem and proposed solution  Original suggestion for improvements and extensions Critiques: 20% Project: 60%  Proposal: 10%  Proposal presentation with initial results/observations: 10%  Final Presentation: 15%  Final Report: 25%

Critique Writing (1 page) Summary  Problem addressed  Novelty of Algorithms/Solutions  Key observations Strengths  Technical strengths (e.g., “paper is very good” is non-technical.) Weaknesses  Technical weaknesses (e.g., poor English is not a weakness) Your Own Extensions  Your own thoughts on how to design a better solution to the same problem, or almost solve a different problem with the same solution.  Or, your thoughts on special cases (not identified in the paper) where the solution fails to apply. And, your own approaches to solve it.  Or, application of techniques learned from the paper to solve other problems

Class Presentation Read the important related works cited, in addition to the paper you are presenting.
