Урок-игра: « A field of wonders». Тема урока: «Great Britain. The landmaks of London». Цели урока: - Повторить и обобщить лингвострановедческий материал по теме «Великобритания». - Развивать навыки практического владения языком. - Способствовать расширению кругозора учащихся. - Воспитывать познавательный интерес к предмету и уважительное отношение к чужой культуре.

Ход урока: Hello everybody. I am glad to see you. Welcome to our lesson. It isn’t usual. It’s a lesson-game “A field of wonders”. I think you like to watch this game on TV. The theme of the lesson is “Great Britain. The landmarks of London”. During the game we’ll try to show our knowledge of the country and prove that London is a wonderful place to visit.

The full name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is situated on the British Isles. It is in the north-west of Europe. The British Isles are separated from the continent by the English Channel. The UK consists of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The capital of England is London. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. Cardiff is the capital of Wales and the main city of Northern Ireland is Belfast. London stands on the bank of the Thames, it is the longest river.

1. So the first question. “It is the oldest part of London.” Think and spell and name, please. (Игроки по очереди кидают кубик и называют буквы).

- “Who knows any facts about this place?” - Pupil: “The City is the heart of London. It is financial and business center. Many people work in the City but very few live there. There are many banks and other offices there too. You can visit some interesting places in the City and near it.”

2. Now our next players. They are: 1. И.Ф.уч-ся 2. И.Ф.уч-ся The question is: “In the past it was a fort, a palace and a prison. Now it is a museum.” ( Игроки по очереди кидают кубик и называют буквы).

T: - Well, you are right. A picture of the Tower. - “What interesting facts do you know about the Tower?” - Pupil: “This building was built in the 11 th century. There are always black ravens in the Tower. People look after them very well as there is a legend that London will be rich while ravens live there. T: That’s interesting, thank you.

3. And now the third pair of players. They are: 1.И.Ф.уч-ся, 2. И.Ф.уч-ся The question isn’t difficult. “This monument is in the center of Trafalgar Square. “Who is this monument to?” ( Игроки по очереди кидают кубик и называют буквы).

T: - Well, you are right. A picture of Trafalgar Square. - Who can tell us about Trafalgar Square? P: - “The center of London is Trafalgar Square. Some people say that it is the most beautiful place in London. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson. His most famous battle was the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, where he was shot and after died on the deck of his ship”. T: Thank you very much. And now, dear guests, let’s play with you. Our winners have a rest before the final game.

“Buckingham Palace has been the official London home of the British royal family for over 150 years. When the flag is flying over the palace, it means the Queen is at home. Being a guard at the palace is a very serious job, and the guards can’t speak or smile while on duty”. Dear pupils, thank you very much. I think that you liked our game.
