Cisco CCNA in Schools VET CISCO Presenter: Kevork Krozian, Forest Hill College

Session Objectives Outline features of Cisco CCNA in Schools Cisco CCNA at Forest Hill College Benefits of the course for schools Resources for delivery

Why teach CCNA in Schools ? It is available in Schools under VET VCE The usual Cisco CCNA benefits 4 VCE Units credit 10% bonus on ENTER score X 2 for each of CCNA1-2 and CCNA 3-4

Availability of CCNA in Schools Cisco is delivered by Cisco Local Academies and mapped to two units of competence from UTE30599 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Computer Systems (UTENES106AA and UTENES206AA). 10% bonus on ENTER score X 2 for each of CCNA1-2 and CCNA 3-4

CCNA at Forest Hill College Two classes operate – CCNA 1-2 and CCNA 3-4 CCNA 3-4 are all FHC students ( 6 x Year 11, 2 x Year 12) normal timetabled classes CCNA 1-2 are taken from 5 schools ( 3 at Year 10 from FHC ), Ashwood SC, Brentwood SC, Vermont SC, Highvale SC, Wheelers Hill SC on Wednesday afternoons 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Credit in the VCE Students who complete half the Cisco Networking Academy program (that is they receive credit for either UTENES106AA or UTENES206AA) will be eligible for two units credit towards their VCE: one Unit 3–4 sequence. Students who complete the entire Cisco Networking Academy Program (both UTENES106AA and UTENES206AA) will be eligible for four units credit towards their VCE: two Unit 3–4 sequences

ENTER Contribution Students who receive a Unit 3–4 sequence (for either UTENES106AA or UTENES206AA) will be eligible for a 10% increment towards their ENTER (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies). Students who receive two Unit 3–4 sequences (for both UTENES106AA and UTENES206AA) will be eligible for two 10% increments towards their VCE (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies).

Duplication with VET IT Significant duplication has been identified with ICA30399 Certificate III Information Technology (Network Administration). Students who complete both UTENES106AA Install electrical/ electronic apparatus (Computer systems) and UTENES206AA Maintain and repair apparatus and circuits (Computer systems), that is Semesters 1–4 of the Cisco Networking Academy Program, as well as ICA30399 Certificate III in Information Technology (Network Administration) will be entitled to count only two, not three, Unit3–4 sequences towards satisfactory completion.

Delivery and Assessment Delivery and assessment VCE VET programs function within the AQTF, so that students may be eligible for nationally recognised qualifications or gain credit toward those qualifications. In order for students to gain credit in the VCE or VCAL for the CCNA program, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) must certify that students have achieved the designated units of competence from the UTE99 Electrotechnology Industry Training Package. Or school applies to be its own Registered Training Organisation (RTO)

Process of Delivery for VCE Deliver CCNA and assess as required by Cisco Academy Quality Assurance program Assess according to the two units of competence from UTE30599 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Computer Systems (UTENES106AA and UTENES206AA). This requires a separate assessment usually as a skills based assessment cross checked against the elements of the Electrotechnology units.

Resources for Schools Normal Cisco Academy support A mailing list set up at for Cisco in schools operated by yours truly.
