Club Day Agenda National FBLA-PBL Week [February 10-16, 2008] Comment Sheet FBLA Board Calendar Costume Balloons School Store Member of the Month Spotlight FBLA MySpace & FBLA WikiSpace Somerby Field Trip (Valentine’s Day)

National FBLA-PBL Week [February 10-16, 2008] FBLA-PBL sets aside the second week of February each year as National FBLA-PBL Week. Chapters are encouraged to use this time to publicize their activities and successes, boost their membership, and gear up for their spring activities. In addition, FBLA-PBL recognizes the Wednesday of this week as Adviser Appreciation Day. Members are encouraged to use this day to pay special tribute to the dedicated individuals who make the association possible on the local level. Many chapters plan special activities for each day of the week. These include everything from Professional Attire Day to FBLA-PBL T-shirt Day to Faculty Appreciation Day and Career Awareness Day. As FBLA-PBL Week coincides each year with National Career & Technical Education Month, this is an excellent time to inform the public about the purpose of school-to-work activities and programs in general. The momentum of a national event provides the perfect occasion to spotlight the value of membership and of career education. Here are our activities for Monday-Friday: Monday: Make an announcement in your classes about FBLA-PBL Week and the importance of joining student organizations. Talk to teachers/professors and gain their support! Sponsor a second semester recruitment drive. Tuesday: Sell March of Dimes bears (a great Valentines Day gift!) and Valentines Balloons to raise awareness of FBLA-PBL at your school. Wednesday: Honor your advisers by bringing coffee and doughnuts for them. Thursday: Join your fellow FBLA-PBL members nationwide in wearing business attire to school or work. Be sure to take a photo and it to Friday: Hold a reception for school administrators, advisers, members, and local business partners. Plan a social for your chapter members — meet for a group dinner, host a volleyball tournament, sip some lattes at a coffee shop, or go out dancing!

Comment Sheet In the February Brochure we had a tare-off sheet for you in it to write some comments about what you would like more of in FBLA… Now we will discuss some of the comments we received from you all. If you did not pick one up and would like one then please see Mrs. Thornbury after the meeting. You can still send the comments to Mrs. Ross in Room 101!!

FBLA Board FBLA has a board out on the wall by Mrs. Ross’s room. Some of the things on the board are: Monthly Calendar, Member of the Month, and Events Guide.

Calendar Costume The Calendar Costume is when FBLA hosts a full 12 Month Calendar with two people on each monthly cover. Now what this results in is a Calendar Tryout day, at which everyone competes for a certain month by dressing up in a costume related to the month they try out for. Now, if you’d like more information, then please see Mrs. Thornbury in Room 111.

Balloons Come and get your balloons in Room 102! You can get Birthday balloons, Valentine ’ s Day Balloons, personal balloons, or balloons for your friends! The balloons you purchase are passed out during 4th Block. If you need more info, then please see Mrs. Taylor in Room 102!! These balloons are a fundraiser to help FBLA!

School Store Come and see what's new in the School Store across from Room 111. The School Store has almost all of the things you can think of for school. If you ’ d like to see it then speak with Mrs. Thornbury after the Club Meeting. But if you cannot view it after this meeting, then then please talk to Mrs. Thornbury in Room 111, Jacob Taylor, or Courtney Cooper for more information.

Member of the Month Spotlight As you saw earlier in the PowerPoint, we have started a Member of the Month for FBLA Officers and Members. Every month we will display an Officer and a Member of FBLA.

FBLA MySpace & FBLA WikiSpace FBLA MySpace If you have a MySpace then this is the thing for you. This MySpace is always up-to-date, and it is a good way to communicate with all FBLA Members. So send a friend’s request! marymontgomeryfbla marymontgomeryfbla FBLA WikiSpace If you do not have a MySpace then this is the thing for you. This website always stays updated with everything that is going on in FBLA. So please go to spaces.com to view the and always stay up-to-date! spaces.com

FBLA Field Trip to Somerby: February 14, 2008 On February 14, 2008 (Valentines Day) we will be going on a Field Trip to Somerby Retirement Center. We will now discuss what to bring on the Field Trip…

This meeting is adjourned This now ends the FBLA PowerPoint for February 12, 2008 Club Day. If you’d like a recap of this PowerPoint or anything we have said, then please see Mrs. Thornbury or Mrs. Ross.
