Thousands of people went from Africa to America during the 18 th and 19 th century. This was because they got chosen to be slaves. Sadly, families were split up children were taken away from their parents. The slave life was cruel and horrible and they had to suffer. Music was important to them because that was the only thing they had to keep the going. If it wasn’t for music slaves would of taken there anger out on others. In my option drums were the most important interments played. Unforunally jaw bones were used as sticks. Did you know? Off beat rhythm are the even numbers such as 2 and 4. These are often used in reggae music.

When the slaves were set free in 1865, they faced poverty and homelessness. The nightmare of slavery was over, but black people were often denied jobs and mistreated in other ways. In my option blues music has always been a way for black American people to express there unhappy lives. DID YOU KNOW? The I believe Slaves had to make instruments out of what ever they could find. slaves also made string instruments.
