Intel ISEF 2011 – Educator Academy 3 High Level Goals Long term goals (3-5 years) –Overall goal: Nurture and sustain a pool of world-class scientific talents Improve the quality of science projects by building the capability of schools to nurture the culture of science research Enable students to build on and continue science research done by previous students Support research projects with potential for commercial applications, and/or contribution to the growth of knowledge Short term goals (1-2 years) Formalize collaboration between the Department of Education, the Department of Science and Technology (and other relevant parties) on an Integrated Science and Math Education Plan Identify, document and scale up best practices in science research in high school. In particular, by starting a process where successful schools/universities can mentor other schools in their area (twinning then clustering) For the Philippine Science High School System, synchronize campus fairs’ schedules to be able to get more students to compete for place in Intel ISEF Develop an Intel Philippine Science Fair website as an online resource, e.g. for a databank of mentors/experts, support institutions and documented best practices Ensure the improvement of quality assurance system for science projects Establish a tracking system including indicators with respect to the overall goal
