Darlene Ryan 206 Realistic Fiction Hannah Fonseca 6th Saving Grace Darlene Ryan 206 Realistic Fiction Hannah Fonseca 6th

Setting The author of Saving Grace never gave the exact city or place were it was mainly based on. It sometimes took place on the road because they were in the truck on the way to Montreal, and in the restaurant where she stopped to eat, and at the gas station. In the truck it was dusty, it smelt like baby barf because Brianna puked in the truck when she didn’t want the milk. The truck was sticky and wet also because Brianna peed everywhere too. The gas station was filthy with gasoline one the floor. Fern’s is the restaurant she ate at on the way to Montreal. It was clean but old in there.

The Conflict The conflict is when Justin thing broke and he gets her pregnant. Evie ends up having a baby at age 14. Her dad forced her to give up the baby for adoption. She steals the baby and runs away from the cops. {Man vs. Man}

Summary Of Plot Evie meets this guy name Justin at a party. They end up spending more time with each other an decided to have it. Justin thing brakes. Evie thought nothing would happen. The next 4 days, Evie throws up an her dad decides that she has to go to the doctor. The doctor said that Evie was pregnant and they decided to tell the dad. The father of Evie wanted to get a abortion, but Evie said if he made her get the abortion then she will run away. They end up putting the baby for adoption and 5 months later Evie stills the baby and runs away. Evie, Justin, and Brianna are on their way to Montreal. On the way there they have a huge argument over how Justin doesn't want the baby and how she was a mistake. Justin gets tried of Evie and Brianna. He decides to go inside the gas station and calls the police on Evie. Evie finds out and runs away with Brianna again. Evie gets hungry on the way to the bus station and tries to find a restaurant. She meets a waitress that works there and the waitress gives her tips about babies to help her with Brianna. When Evie gets back from changing Brianna in the restroom she finds a police. She thought the waitress told on her. Then the police passed her with his dinner and smiled right at her he didn’t even know who she was.

Theme Love is hard and can get you into a sticky situation. Evidence 1: Evie loves Brianna so much she risked going to jail and getting caught by the cops to get her child back. Evidence 2: She ran away from home to be with Justin and Brianna. Evidence 3: Justin doesn't love Evie anymore and didn’t want Brianna in the first place.

Point Of View This book was written in first person. This point of view helps the reader understand how the character feels or his\her feelings about the situation. If the point of view was change the character emotions wouldn’t tell us their thoughts and feelings through out the story, and the reader wouldn’t know the inside of the story.

Symbolism The symbolism of this book is a baby with her young mom. The symbol shows how the mom cares for the baby no matter what.

Recommendation I recommend this book if you are in to realistic fiction. This book shows how a young teen decides how she is going to handle a tough situation without anybody helping her. You should give this book a try, you might like it.
