WALOA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM Objective: Develop a program that leverages officiating experience to mentor young officials. Goals: Provide hands on development, enhance situational awareness of the culture and character of the sport, and provide fellowship and mentorship of officials
WALOA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM Compensation: Mentors $10 per game and pay mentees $10 less per game (Note: built in incentive to improve) Metrics: Mentees evaluated by USL Lev 1 evaluation forms. Evaluations will be one per set of games. We expect mentors to talk the mentees through the game sets to observe improvement from game one to three. All forms will be uploaded into ArbiterSports.com.
WALOA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM Structure: Mentors have between three and five mentees (crew) and assigners will assign them as a crew until such time as the mentee is released from the mentorship program. During the season the commissioner will see evaluations of all mentees and will discuss with the mentors.
WALOA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM End State: Mentor-mentee relationship will continue until such time as the mentor signs off on the mentee's competency and proficiency. The goal is to release all mentees to do games by the end of the season. After release from the mentor then the mentee will go into “fellowship” status which requires the mentor and mentee to communicate during the remainder of the season.
