PARTICIPANTS One school librarian will take a leadership role : one from each school will act as the project facilitators in their buildings for the 3-year duration of the grant and will attend the 3 on-site workshops each year along with the online participation Two classroom teachers (social studies/ELA) from each building, each year (for a total of 6 teachers), will participate in the 3 on-site workshops and 1-3 years in the online Learning Space. Year one and two teachers will mentor year two and three teachers

PROJECT OBJECTIVES Objective #1: Student demonstrates mastery of technology skills aligned with CCLS that will lead to higher achievement and higher graduation rates. Objective #2: Classroom teachers and school librarians demonstrate knowledge and understanding of technology and information literacy and how they affect student learning. (NYS Teaching Standards, I.6) Objective #3: Classroom teachers and school librarians engage and collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop and sustain a common culture that supports high expectations for student learning. (NYS Teaching Standards,VI.2)

Objective #3 : Classroom teachers and school librarians engage and collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop and sustain a common culture that supports high expectations for student learning. (NYS Teaching Standards,VI.2) The project’s online learning environment, The Learning Space, and teacher use of iPads are an integral project strategy to create a community of practice for educators to learn, communicate, critiques, share, and grow as learners and to gain a comfort level to actively learn how to integrate these technologies into the curriculum to support standards. Teams will be required to share lessons and resources from the project: on the project website, to district faculty at an afternoon workshop or faculty meeting, in a brief article for the district newsletter; at a webinar Webinars will take place each year highlighting student accomplishments and teacher/librarian collaboration through sharing of lessons, video reflections, and other resources. To enhance collaboration among classrooms and/or the library media centers

REQUIRED PROJECT ACTIVITIES Teacher and Librarians actively participate in 3 onsite full-day workshops: February 14 & 15; April 29 4 afterschool technology workshops: Jan.17; TBA Ongoing online collaboration, sharing, reflection and learning in the Learning Space each week Webinar planning and implementation

TECHNOLOGY Classroom teachers and school librarians will receive: an iPad Membership to The Learning Space Customized professional development on Web 2.0 tools, video, audio production and the ipad through afterschool on-site workshops and online support Teams will receive: 2 digital cameras and 2 audio recorders for staff/student use a stipend ($100) to purchase iPad apps Project Website to share their curriculum lessons and new learning

TEACHER/LIBRARIAN TEAMS Create two instructional lessons Identify, evaluate and annotate five iPad apps Create one instructional 5-10 minute video show themselves teaching a key literacy skill, reflect on what they have learned explain how they incorporate Web 2.0 tools into their curriculum Participate in a Webinar to share their lesson plans and resources Share your new learning with your faculty
