Using word
Examples of using word to write up some coursework Previously, I have used Microsoft Word to help me with my coursework and to write up any important documents, for example, Business and ICT Coursework. Many different classes include using Word, for example PDL, to write up my CV. I also used Word to write up artist research in Art GCSE.
Advantages of using word compared to writing by hand There are many advantages to using word to write up work and coursework, especially when it comes to opening certain documents from a different location. Also, Word can come across to looking more professional than written writing. Word has many different choices across the ribbon that are very useful to create a good document. This can be used to change the size and font of the writing on the page. Word is also useful for spellchecking to ensure all words are spelt correctly and it is also easy to backspace any words or sentences that are no longer needed and also to make any corrections and amendments. Lastly, Word is useful when illustrating your work and inserting links or images.
Disadvantages of using word Although there are many advantages of using Word, there are a few disadvantages too. For example, problems saving work. This can be a big issue at home or school and unless you have a memory stick, there is no way of saving work. Another issue of using Word is that there can be technical issues such as printing issues and backing up work. Also, whilst saving work it is very easy to forget where certain work has been saved. Another common issue with Word is accessing at home after being saved to the school drive, this can be a big issue when you are trying to access homework or help sheets at home.
general conclusion to using word In my opinion I prefer using Microsoft Word. This is because I find it quick and easier to type up my word than to write it on paper. I also prefer Word because it makes my work look more professional and sophisticated. Another reason why I prefer using Word because it checks spelling and corrects and grammar. I find this useful because you may be presenting work and need everything correct. Lastly, I prefer using Word than writing on paper because of any corrections and improvements that I may need to make, saving crossing out and ruining written work.

Social media Social media is especially popular to teenagers and young adults now-a-days. Any teenager with a smartphone is very likely to have some form of app that links to social media, for example, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. I have 2 most used apps that I use daily which are Snapchat and Instagram. These apps are completely different but are both forms of social media. Snapchat is used to take photos and share them with friends for 24 hours whilst Instagram is used to upload photos to your newsfeed for your followers to see and ‘like’ them, they are also able to comment under any photo on their newsfeed. Facebook is a different type of social medial as well, this can be used to communicate using Messenger to any friends, you are also able to upload photos and statuses and also to share your location, for example and shopping centre or café.
Dangers of social media Although many teenagers and young adults are using different forms of social media, there are also many dangers of the various amount of apps, this can include, identity theft and Cyber Bullying. Identity theft can be someone behind a screen taking someone else's photos and personal details and creating an account using them. This can be dangerous in many ways, especially if the person pretending to be someone else tries talking to other people using another account. This often happens on Facebook more than any other app. Cyber Bullying is very popular in the teenage years. It involves either messaging other people hurtful and upsetting things. Cyber Bullying also includes somebody else doing anything online to mentally hurt another person, this can also be non-stop ‘Prank Calling’ or texting on an unknown number. Cyber Bullying happens in many cases, whether someone is trying to get ‘revenge’ or is just looking to upset someone for a joke or laugh. Many people never know how to take Cyber Bullying because the person may not be identified or they may feel too threatened to talk to someone at school or at home incase it leads to something worse. Cyber Bullying is one of the most common types of bullying happening at school which is very hard to prevent.
Staying safe online All the little things helps someone to stay safe online, this can include using passwords and privacy settings and also not typing in too much personal information. People can set passwords for a lot of apps and websites now-a-days, this decreases hacking on social media and also identity theft. Privacy settings is also well known to users of Facebook, this can occur when you upload a photo or status and you can choose who sees it, for example, friends, friends of friends or you can select certain people who can or cant see it. It is always best to keep as much information to yourself as you can, for example, your mobile number, address, etc. Also when a person collects certain documents to do with their identity that needs to stay confidential, for example, your national insurance number and credit card details.
Different features to an email Emails have many different features but are mainly created for communication between two or more people. This can be sharing documents such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Sending an email is free to anyone anywhere round the world. The most popular reason why people send emails is to attach photos or documents for certain people to see, read or use. Emails are accessible for anyone who has a device which is able to use the internet. Many companies have their own email system, for example, Google mail, Yahoo mail, and even Facebook. Now-a-days anything that you sign up for needs a personal email address from you, this can be whilst applying for a job, or entering a competition for a shop. Another special feature to an email is that they are always saved, whether you send or receive one. This is good because it can be used as a back-up for the attachments on it.
Advantages to email than meeting up with people Using an email compared to meeting people is a much better way to communicate to some people especially if they live far away. This saves moving around and finding transport that suitable for both people. Using an email is also useful because it will allow you to access al the information needed instead of you having to write it down without forgetting something. An email is also saved to your inbox so you can access it more than once. Emails can also be accessed on any smartphone on the Mail app. This enables you to see and read the email anywhere you go as long as you have internet access.
Disadvantages of using email Although there are many advantages to email, there can be some disadvantages too. This may include someone's opinion or reaction towards the email. It is very easy to be misunderstood whilst you are reading someone else’s email, this can also happen with text and any other form of written communication. Another disadvantage of email is not knowing the reaction of others, it may be hard to understand someone’s point of view whilst replying to their email.
conclusion Personally, I prefer meeting people than sending emails, this is because I like talking to people face to face than online. There are sometimes where an email would be better, this could be for arranging a party or forwarding documents. However, face to face communication is better for organising something like a party together with a few other people to know all of the details. An email would also be better to communicate with someone that lives in a different country. However, meeting someone face to face would be better with someone or a group of people who are just a short journey away.
Legal requirements
Key parts of copyright legislation It is important when using other peoples work to reference it and acknowledge it as their work. This can be when using photos, words and even music. Referencing peoples work can happen in anything from coursework to making videos to upload online or to a website. You can also use somebody else’s work by asking them for their permission, otherwise it is breaking the law.
school's Acceptable Usage Policy for computers When joining a school there is a usage policy for computers. This includes rules in which students have to follow throughout their education at the school, for example, not using chatrooms, and to not install any games or apps, etc. these are important for the student to sign as they start school as an agreement. This means they cannot attempt anything on the policy for all the time they are at the school. It is also important because it may prevent any viruses on the school system and it may use to misuse of all school software.
3 statements I follow the Copyright legislation because any work belonging to others I reference to show where and who I got it from. I also do this with images online. If I am unaware of where or who the image or text if from I will find another relevant piece of work that is easier to reference. I am aware that I also follow the Acceptable Usage Policy for the school. I know this because I have read and agreed to the agreement form, this includes points like, to not use chat rooms and also not downloading files or apps, etc. All of my work that I have completed is my own work, there may be some parts to coursework that I have copied from online but have also referenced it to where and who it came from. I do this so that I know all of my work is legal and I am able to use it in the future.
