Projects “Improvement of infrastructure of streets and apartment house blocks in the Livani town”  Project implementation in 3 rounds: 1)2009 – 3 apartment house yards and 3 town streets reconstructed. 2)2009–2011 – 5 apartment house yards and 3 town streets reconstructed, and 7 apartment house yards improved. 3)2010–2013 – 9 town streets reconstructed and 3 apartment house yards improved. Total costs LVL of which 85% ERDF, state budget subsidy 3% or 9%, municipality co-financing 6% or 12%

Support to initiative of the inhabitants Call for proposals for the small grants announced by the Livani District Council Aim – to encourage activity and participation of the inhabitants in solving urgent problems thus promoting improvement of people’s quality of life. Funding from the Livani District Council for 1 project Ls; Call for proposals for the small grants „People create their own environment” announced by the society «Preili District Partnerships» Aim – to improve the physical and social qualities of life under private initiative of the inhabitants.

Small grants projects implemented by the inhabitants Improvement of an apartment house yard in the Sutri parish

Improvement of the parks, squares and peninsula in the Livani town (introducing theme benches, fountain, greenery, skiing tracks / bicycle lanes). Cleaning of the riverbed and banks of the Dubna river. Reconstruction of the roads and apartment house yards in the parishes of the Livani district. Drafting of technical projects for reconstruction of the Livani town streets. Drafting of technical project for reconstruction of the Livani town stadium. Improvement and popularization of the implemented bicycle lanes. Drafting of technical project for building an open-air stage in the Livani town. Future plans for creating a better environment

Conclusions  Availability of funding – a start for improvement of urban environment (no money – no party ).  A basis for the town development – a well established basic infrastructure.  Successful project implementation – qualitative construction project, team work in the project, internal communication.  Reconstruction and improvement of apartment house yards make the inhabitants satisfied with environment quality.  Municipality support to the inhabitants’ initiative – added value to improvement of the town areas.  Inhabitants’ voluntary work in improvement of areas – invaluable investment in a balanced and sustainable development of the urban environment.
