What is Battle of the Books? The Battle of the books is a VOLUNTARY reading competition designed to promote the love and appreciation of reading for 5th and 6th grade students.
Team Information Teams consist of 3 people Teammates do not have to be in the same class Every team member should read all the books. Make wise choices about teammates

The Battle Each Battle is divided into 2 phases or parts Each Battle is divided into 2 phases or parts
Phase One 5 rounds or questions 5 pts for correct title of the book 3 pts for correct authors name or last name Total 40 pts 30 seconds to answer with a 5 second warning. Questions begin, “In what book…”
Phase Two 3 questions or rounds 10 pts for correct answer Questions will be more specific little details Total 30 pts 20 seconds to answer with a 5 second warning. Question begin… “In the book…”
Other items Repeating the Question: The timer will not be stopped. Challenges: If you believe your answer is correct, you may challenge the decision. Only the team may challenge, before going on to the next question.
Other items Only the team answering questions can discuss answers. Everyone else is silent. Restrooms – NO ONE LEAVES during Battle. Please use restroom before you come. Teams may not be altered after the 1 st battle. No Video, Audio, Cell phones. Questions will be used in future battles.
