PUBLIC RELATIONS FOR THE BLUE HEART CAMPAIGN “Human Trafficking is a vicious chain that binds victims to criminals. We must break this chain with the force of human solidarity” Ban Ki-moon

THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE A FACE, BUT THEY HAVE A HEART People usually commit to Causes that fight against social issues that are visible to everyone, as poverty, natural catastrophes, diseases, etc. In these cases, people see the faces of the ones who are suffering, but Human Trafficking victims don’t have a face. Frequently seduced by a better life perspective, this people are taken to places far away from home and completely lose contact with their environment. The problem being invisible doesn’t make it less real: this people are everywhere, you may even have already crossed their way but you don’t see them. That’s the reason why our PR campaign is based in the idea that “They might not have a face, but they have a heart”. THE CONCEPT THE GOALS EDUCATE about Human Trafficking ALERT about its danger ENGAGE all the stakeholders PROMOTE the Blue Heart as an international symbol RAISE FUNDS for the cause from the private sector THE MESSAGES Human Trafficking is a crime and it’s a global issue There are 2.4 million victims and you don’t know any of them Most trafficked persons are not formally identified Next 30 th July is the first International Human Trafficking Day

“THE TRAP” WHAT IF YOU WERE INVITED TO A PRESS CONFERENCE LIKE SOME MANY OTHERS AND THEN YOU’RE DRIVEN TO AN UNKNOWN PLACE? WHAT IF YOU’RE FORCED TO ENTER A DARK AND DIRTY PLACE? WHAT IF IT SEEMS THAT YOU’VE LOST CONTROL? WHAT IF SUDDENLY YOU REALIZE THAT YOU’VE BEEN TRAPPED? That’s a very tiny part of what trafficking victims feel. We want the journalists to experience, even if for a few minutes, what it feels to lose control of their life. What the journalists will be expecting:What they’ll get: ACTIONS TO BE HELD BEFORE THE 30 TH JULY

Following the previous experience projections will start in the dark room. A flash-drive with all the information about the actions that will take place on the 30 th July shall be delivered to the journalists. For the journalists that were not able to attend the press conference, the video will be sent through UNODC’s Facebook page. Ambassadors of the Cause must be asked to share the video in their personal Facebook pages. HUMAN TRAFFICKING WORTH AN ESTIMATED US$ 32 BILLION A video starts with just figures with no faces, followed by some strong facts from UNODC Global Trafficking in Persons Report. THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE A FACE, BUT THEY HAVE A HEART YOU WEREN’T EXPECTING THIS, WERE YOU? NEITHER DID 2.4 MILLION PEOPLE ALL AROUND THE WORLD. Now, we got the journalists’attention. ON THE 30 TH JULY WE NEED YOU HEART A beating blue heart appears on the screen followed by the PR Campaign’s message. And the disclosure of the first International Human Trafficking Day is done.

FACEBOOK LOSES ITS FACE. Does the face really matters? What if Facebook loses its “face”? You wouldn’t care about it anymore? On the 30 th July we want to remove the “face” from the name of the famous social network, proving that it would work exactly the same way. Without its “face”, Facebook would still have its heart. MEDIA SHOW ITS HEART. The newspapers all around the world also show their hearts. On the 30th July we want each country’s tier one to put the Blue Heart next to their logos in printed and online editions. BLUE HEART DOODLE. On the 30 th July we want Google’s doodle to be a Blue Heart with the link to the Blue Heart Campaign’s website. ACTIONS TO BE HELD ON THE 30 TH JULY

PEOPLE THROW THEIR HEART. When you let off a balloon you never know where will it get but you also don’t know where the Human Trafficking Victims are. On the 30 th July, at the exactly same time all around the world, 2.4 million blue heart shaped balloons with the message “They might not have a face, but they have a heart” must be thrown to the skies. DRESS BLUE. Inspire people, through social media, to dress a blue piece of clothing in this day and to share their pictures with the hashtag #supportblueheart as a sign of support for the Cause. Governments and local authorities must choose the most emblematic and representative monuments in their countries and “dress” them blue, illuminating them with blue light in that night. 365 FACTS YOU DON’T KNOW. On the 30 th July it shall be launched a 365 days campaign in Twitter. From this day on, a different fact about Human Trafficking will be presented in a daily basis.

ART FOR HEART. What is the best way for artists to show their heart? We want to invite a group of artists from all the continents to express their view on the Human Trafficking issue through their art and heart. The art pieces will be presented in a itinerant exhibition that must pass by the countries where they are from. At the end, all the art pieces must be auctioned in order to raise funds for the Cause. ACTIONS TO BE HELD AFTER THE 30 TH JULY BLUE HEART AWARD. “Show Their Face”. Promoting high quality journalism in this field worldwide will help to give a face to the ones who don’t have one. The piece that contributes the most to create awareness for this issue must be awarded and shared in Blue Heart Campaign’s Facebook page.

BLUE HEART WRISTBAND. In every Blue Heart’s events and initiatives white wristbands with the Blue Heart logo and the message “They might not have a face, but they have a heart” must be distributed. People must be encouraged to take selfies wherever they go around the world, where their faces and the wristbands are visible. The selfies will then be shared in the social networks with the hashtag #supportblueheart. ACTIONS TO BE HELD AFTER THE 30 TH JULY BLUE HEART RUN.“Make you heart beat for the Blue Hearts”. In the same day, at the same time, we want to make the world run for this Cause. More than a way of raising funds, people will show their support by making their hearts beat faster.
