Cumulative HIV/AIDS in Oklahoma

HIV/AIDS in Oklahoma As of December 31, 2010, 8,462 cases had been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in Oklahoma: –4,908 were living with HIV and/or AIDS –3,013 were HIV infections and 5,449 were AIDS cases –85.3% were male, while 14.7% were female. Since 1982, 3,554 deaths were among people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, 86 of these deaths occurred in In 2010, 208 HIV cases and 92 AIDS cases reported.

HIV/AIDS in Oklahoma By Age Group (Age at Diagnosis): –30-39 years (3,213; 38.0%), –20-29 years (2,652; 31.3%), –40-49 years (1,582; 18.7%), –50-59 years (508; 6%), –13-19 years (224; 2.7%), and –All other ages (less than 3%). By Race: –Whites (5,441; 64.4%) –Blacks (1,794; 21.2%) –American Indian/Alaska Natives (536; 6.3%) –Hispanics (504; 6.0%) –Asian/Pacific Islander (46; 0.5%) By Risk: –Approximately 2/3 of all cases were Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM) or MSM and Injection Drug Use (IDU).

New HIV/AIDS Cases in Oklahoma

New HIV/AIDS Cases in cases of HIV/AIDS were diagnosed in 2010: –HIV: 208 –AIDS : 92 From : –There was a downward trend in AIDS cases (from 188 to 92 cases), and a –Upward trend in newly diagnosed HIV (not AIDS) cases (from 157 to 208 cases). Of the 86 deaths in 2010, 11 were diagnosed and died in the same year.
