Purposes  To learn how states use policy as a key lever in effectively preparing and supporting principals for their role in teacher evaluation. 9

Objectives:  Learn what state policy makers can do to ensure that principals have the preparation and professional development support they need to effectively use new teacher evaluation instruments and provide actionable feedback to teachers, and are certified to conduct evaluations. 10

Objectives:  Discuss the findings from the NGA Issue Brief: Preparing Principals to Evaluate Teachers.  Hear from districts participating in the Wallace Principal Pipeline Initiative about how they support their principals and hold them accountable for implementing their teacher evaluation system. 11
