Student and Staff Expectations – a two way process  Staff will Arrive at lectures and workshops on time Be well prepared Advise you of expectations Not use mobile phones  Students will Arrive at lectures and workshops on time Remain in the room for the duration of the class Complete required pre-work Refrain from talking in lectures Turn off phones Use computers in classrooms only for class work Only carry out activities which are assigned for that class session Ask for assistance if required

Students and Staff will:  Students and staff will: treat others with respect, dignity, impartiality, courtesy and sensitivity act honestly and ethically respect the privacy of others not discriminate, harass or bully read all official correspondence from the University, including

Lectures, Workshops, Labs and Tutorials Talking during the delivery of a lecture is impolite and not acceptable – even if you do not want to listen. Lecture theatre acoustics mean that even whispering is audible at quite a distance. Disruptive behaviour and talking by students during lectures will not be tolerated. Offenders will be instructed to leave and not return. This applies to ALL lectures, especially those where a guest lecturer is presenting. Active mobile phones will not be tolerated in any classes. Mobile telephones should be switched off and put away, students should not make or answer calls or send text messages throughout a lecture, tutorial, workshop or practical class. Offending students will be instructed to leave the class and not return.

COMMUNICATION Your university address is the official means of communication from the university You should check your university regularly and only use your university to communicate with university staff.
