Aim: How do scientists clone organisms? Hello Dolly!!

What is a Clone? A clone is an organism that is genetically identical to the organism from which it was produced.

Do the cells of our body make exact copies of themselves? Yes When? GrowthRepair

What process ensures that the offspring will be genetically identical? DNA Replication

Cloning vs. Asexual Reproduction Cloning is a technique that accomplishes the same end result as __________reproduction. What is the end result? The production of offspring with identical genetic information as the parent. asexual

Can we clone organisms that normally reproduce sexually? Yes, scientists have been able to clone animals.

Steps of Cloning: 1)The nucleus from an egg cell is removed. 2)The nucleus of a body cell from a donor is removed. 3)The nucleus of the body cell is placed inside the egg cell. 4)The egg cell with the new nucleus is placed inside the uterus. 5)When the baby is born, it will have the same genetic information as the donor.

Why Clone? 1) Clone Stem Cells 2) Revive endangered or extinct species 3) Reproducing a deceased pet 4) Clone humans??

Do you think identical twins are clones? Explain. Can you hypothesize how identical twins are formed? ah.edu/units/clonin g/
