"I think the Obama administration greatly overestimated the American (public's) ability to comply with all of these Affordable Care Act issues," Kelly Fristoe, a health underwriter with Financial Partners in Wichita Falls said. "We still have people who just don't know. They don't know what the rules are." The Texas Association of Health Underwriters (TAHU) strongly urges individual taxpayers to consult with a professional health insurance agent in addition to their tax professional to make sure taxpayers are in compliance with the new Affordable Care Act health coverage provisions impacting 2014 tax returns. [Mark] Gaunya has served as the National Chair of the Healthcare Cost & Quality Transparency Taskforce for NAHU and, in 2013, he was appointed to the Legislative Council to continue that work. He has also served as President of the Massachusetts Association of Health Underwriters from (MassAHU)

The more high-profile media coverage we received, the more attention policymakers will pay to our issues. Media placement means an increased understanding of the issues in the public, both inside and outside the industry. Media attention increases NAHU name recognition and branding. We do not pay for our media placements. All coverage received by our members is free business promotion, which promotes NAHU members as subject-matter experts. Good information and solid sound bytes provided by an NAHU member means other reporters will want to use that member as a resource.
