2  Established in 1958, the Arctic logistics business line is mandated through the Resources and Technical Surveys Act (1994) to: “coordinate logistics support and provide related assistance for the purposes of advancing scientific knowledge of the Arctic region and contribute to the exercise of Canada's sovereignty in that region and its adjacent waters.” (para. 8(1)). Polar Continental Shelf Program (PCSP or “Polar Shelf”)  Polar Continental Shelf Program is part of Natural Resources Canada and is based in Ottawa, ON.

4  Arctic logistical services include:  Coordination of air transportation to field camps  Aircraft (fixed wing and helicopter) support including fuel for field camps  Loan and storage of field equipment  Accommodations and working/storage space at the PCSP Resolute facility  Laboratory facilities at Resolute  On-going communications with clients out in the field  Advice on licensing and permitting  Equipment (through TFSS) PCSP’s Arctic Logistical Services

55 Polar Continental Shelf Program Resolute PCSP supports on average 140 research projects and 1100 scientists every year Science projects range from anthropology to zoology and everything in between PCSP supports various Canadian Forces training exercises such as Operation Nunalivut.

7 The Community of Resolute Bay Population of Resolute (or Resolute Bay) is approximately 250 The community is located approximately 7 km away from the airport

8 We are looking for summer students… PCSP is looking for students for one six week rotation to Resolute, NU The rate of pay is $26.87/hr. Travel costs and room/board are provided by PCSP. PCSP is a 24/7 operation. Although official duties are required Monday to Friday – it is likely that you will be asked to overtime every day and to work weekends. You will be compensated for overtime (students earned over $7,800 in overtime last year)

9 We are looking for summer students… Duties include: answering phones, assisting researchers and PCSP field equipment officers, entering data into the PCSP project management system and the inventory management system, assisting with special projects, providing tours, and following up with clients on health and safety, security or permitting requirements. You will be required to provide a resume, cover letter, proof of citizenship (passport or birth certificate, First Aid certification, and Natural Resources Canada security forms). You will be required to provide formal feedback to the PCSP and your college on your work experience.
