Trends in Communicative Language Learning Md. Sahil Zulfiquer Prime ID- 1051

What is Communicative Language Teaching? A set of principles about the goals of language teaching, how learners learn a language, the kind of classroom activities that best facilitates learning and the roles of teachers and learners in the classroom.

Traditional approach Vs Current Communicative approach Traditional: Full Focus on grammatical competence It was believed that language learning meant building up large repertoire of sentences and grammatical patterns and learning to produce these accurately and quickly in the appropriate situation. Methodology used here was controlled practice and later on introduce four skill routine- speaking listening, reading and writing

Traditional approach Vs Current Communicative approach Current: It is believed that learners learn language through communicating in it. Live communication provide better opportunities to learners than through a grammar based approach.
