eNTERFACE’08 The 4th of a series initiated by Pr. Thierry Dutoit, after Mons (2005), Dubrovnik (2006), Istambul (2007) The first post-SIMILAR eNTERFACE workshop. Supported by LIMSI-CNRS, OpenInterface foundation, and you, the participating organizations

eNTERFACE’08 facts Number of participant (including LIMSI staff, outside of the projects) : 78 Average daily number of participants: 55 + LIMSI Staff labs from 15 countries, people from 20 countries 10 projects

Expected Results August 29th: general closing meeting : public presentation, in which the team leaders explain and demonstrate the results of their project. All results, codes and data, are made publicly available with an MIT- like open source license. the workshop proceedings will be issued in the month following the eNTERFACE’08. Each team contributes a 15pp. paper on their project and results. Hopefully eNTERFACE’08 will create a real transfer of know-how among participants, who continue to work together after the workshop has closed. Authors will be encouraged to consider submitting a polished version of their results in the Journal on Multimodal User Interfaces

Schedule Monday august 4 th, 14h: general opening meeting, LIMSI conference room. –Welcome address by the organizers, –presentation of projects by team leaders, –teams gathering. Tuesday august 5 th, 9h: –teams gathering and installation. Wednesday august 6 th, 14h: first invited conference: Lotfi A. Zadeh Friday august 15 th : holiday, the lab will be closed, 3 days week-end Monday august 18 th, 10h: –Mid-term meeting Intermediate reports on teams achievements. Friday august 29 th, 10h: general closing meeting –Final reports on teams achievements, –conclusion and discussion on eNTERFACE’08 and future plans.

Working places Teams will work in two different buildings the main building (this building, 508): Acoustic room, council room, office 202, a classroom building (507): large room, small room The conference room is reserved for general conference, but is also available for teams meeting, or specialized conferences The cafeteria is always open for informal meetings or relaxing

Working Time The Workshop working time will be from 9:00 to 17:00. For security reasons, Workshop rooms will be locked outside this period. The main LIMSI building is open from 8:30 to 18:30. Access to the lab out of this period is allowed only to permanent members with access cards.

Lunches The university restaurant is closed in august. Therefore, participants must organize their own lunch, as it is also the case for all people at LIMSI in august. It is possible to bring lunch and to take it in LIMSI cafeteria or on the grass around the lab. The cafeteria is always open, with paying serving machine, free fridge and free microwave oven. Coffee, tea etc is served in the morning and at lunch time (buy tickets). There are café, restaurants and groceries near the RER "Le Guichet" station (see the wiki) Pizza, pasta other types of catering can be ordered and delivered at LIMSI (see the wiki) We will try to organize a system for ordering light meals (volunteers ?)
