16 Policy Changes EOC Testing - §2319 B. 2. – 9 th grade Students must pass three EOC tests to graduate: English II or English III Algebra I or Geometry Biology or American History EOC replaces the GEE

17 Policy Changes New immunization required – 6 th graders 8 th graders may take IBCA for Carnegie credit if policy requirements are met Qualified students may receive a high school diploma if the pass the LAA2 version of the GEE (ELA, math, and either science or social studies)

18 Policy Changes Parents must be informed of the proper procedure to use when making complaints Interaction between a student and school employee is prohibited unless another adult is present or both are clearly visible by persons outside. Exceptions include counselors

19 Policy Changes Teacher Bill of Rights - revised Excused absences up to 5 days for students whose military parent(s) are leaving for or returning from a combat zone Exit interviews for students who withdraw from school.

20 Policy Changes Students in the 7 th who intend to take a GLE- based Carnegie credit course in the 8 th grade must complete a 7 th grade course that addresses both the 7 th and 8 th grade GLEs. The LEA must administer a test based on the 8 th grade GLEs to determine readiness for the Carnegie credit course.

21 Policy IQ The branches of spelling, reading, writing, drawing, arithmetic, geography, grammar, United States history, and health, including alcohol, tobacco, drug, and substance abuse prevention and education Constitution of the United States-beginning in the 8th grade and continuing through college Flag of the United States Kindness to dumb animals Military science and tactics (at least one hour a week - high school - males only!) Declaration of Independence (elementary school) and Federalist Papers (high school) Selective service obligation orientation (males only - high school) Driver education French language and culture
