HUMAN DEVELOPMENT INDEX CBMS findings show that human development in Palawan is significantly improving. Cuyo registered the highest human development index. Human development is found lowest in the municipality of Española. Provincial HDI stood at about in 1994, in 1997, in 2000, in 2002, in 2005 and in 2008.

Access to safe water supply is 22.33% in1980, 50.53% in 1993, 53.60% in 2000, 64.83% in 2002, 60.50% in and in 2008.
