Overview: Since January 2004, the Center for Risk Management of Engineering Systems of the University of Virginia has been testing business process modeling to describe the SYIP/STIP integration effort. Following a recommendation of VDOT's IT Division, the Center adopted the IDEF modeling capability of BPWin (also known as All Fusion Process Modeler). The modeling encourages consistent documentation of who generates what information/products/services, for whom, how, and for what reasons. In organizations such as VDOT, the modeling is useful in making priorities for processes to change and maintain. The November 9 presentation and discussion will consist of a review of the progress to date on SYIP/STIP, hands-on introduction to the BPWin software, and identification of relevant needs and opportunities.
