venture noun. a business project or activity, especially one that involves taking risks; e.g. The project is a joint venture between the public and private sectors. verb. to do sth, even though it involves risks; venture into/on sth.

all the same indicating an uninterrupted action on a constant state; in spite of this; to be not important to sb.

slump verb. to fall in price,value, number, etc. suddenly and by a large amount; slump by sth; slump from sth to sth; verb. to sit or fall down heavily; noun. a sudden fall in sales, prices, the value of sth etc.; slump in sth.

unkempt adj. not well cared for; adj. not neat or tidy; (especially of sb’s hair or general appearance); e.g. Her hair is unkempt.

constantly adv. all the time, repeatedly; e.g. fashion is constantly changing. adj. constant.

take delight in verb. to get great pleasure from doing sth. (especially sth. that makes other people feel embarrassed uncomfortable).

broad adj. wide; e.g. a broad street; noun. wide range; including a great variety of people or things; adj. general; not detailed the broad outline of a proposal.

bold adj. brave and confident e.g. The wine made him bold enough to approach her and introduce himself. noun. that can be easily seen e.g. The bold outline of a mountain against the sky. adj. (of printed words or letters) in a thick dark type. e.g. bold lettering; be/make so bold (as to do sth) when politely asking a question or making a suggestion which you hope will offend someone; e.g. I may be so bold as to suggest that he made a mistake.

sullen adj. silently showing lack of cheerfulness; adv. Sullenly; noun. Sullenness.

inquisitive adv. Inquisitively; noun. Inquisitiveness; verb. always wanting to find out the details about things and people.

affect verb. to do sth that produces an effect or change in someone or sth. verb. to make some one feel strong emotions (moved) verb. to pretend to have a particular feeling way of speaking e.g. Affect is the usual verb and effect is usual noun. e.g. How do you think the changes will affect you? (not affect on/to/in you) e.g. What effect do you think the change will have on you? The verb effect is fairly formal and is only used in particular meanings, for example, you might effect changes or a plan of action (=make them happen) It does not mean the same as affect noun. affection: a gentle feeling of love and caring.

withdraw verb. cause (not) to take part in; verb. to take money out of a bank account; withdraw sth from sale/the market; withdraw a remark / accusation; e.g. The newspaper has agreed to withdraw its allegation. withdraw sb from; verb. to no longer take part in an activity, race, or to prevent someone from doing this; withdraw into: stop communicating to be quieter, less friendly e.g. The little girl seemed to withdraw into a private world

tardy adv. slow in action; adj. done later than it should have been done; e.g. We apologize for our tardy response to your letter. (This sentence is often used in s.) noun. tardiness.
