1500 May 11 th, 1500, the Greek and Chinese based ideas for a camera.

1727 May 11 th, 1727, Johann Heinrich discovered silver nitrate.

1826 The first camera was made on January, 1826.

1826 The first permanent picture was taken from obscura in 1826.

1878 British photographer Eadweard Muybridge takes the first successful photographs of motion, showing how people and animals move in 1878.

1888 Etienne Marey in France develops a camera, shaped like a gun, that can take twelve pictures per second in 1888.

1889 Thomas Edison and W.K. Dickson develop the Kinetoscope, a peep-show device in which film is moved past a light.

1893 Edison constructs the first motion picture studio in New Jersey.

1895 In Paris, they present the first commercial exhibition of projected motion pictures by two French brothers that patented a combination of a movie camera and projector.

1905 Harry Davis opens the first nickelodeon in Pittsburgh.

1906 The first animated cartoon is produced.

1925 The first inflight movie, a black & white, silent film called The Lost World, is shown in a WWI converted Handley-Page bomber during a 30- minute flight near London.

1910 Los Angeles annexes Hollywood.

1922 Lee DeForrest demonstrates a method for recording sound on the edge of a film strip.

1925 Western Electric and Warner Bros. agree to develop a system for movies with sound.

1926 Warner Bros.'s Don Juan, starring John Barrymore, contains music but not spoken dialogue.

1946 On October 24, 1946 the first picture of Earth from space was taken from a V-2 rocket.

1951 In 1951, the first video tape recorder (VTR) captured live images from television cameras by converting the information into electrical impulses and saving the information onto magnetic tape.

1964 In 1964, research on high-definition TV begins study of satellite broadcasting begins

1969 In 1969, the first exhibition of high-definition TV study at STRL open house.

1981 In 1981, a test manufacture of 1-inch tape VCR for high-definition TV starts.

1986 Digital video was first introduced commercially in 1986 with the Sony D1 format.

1990 On April 24 th, 1990 the Hubble Space Telescope was launched.

1999 March 3 rd, 1999 the first HDTV was created.
