Online Survey Results

Many drivers have met the inconvenience: 1) Condensed traffic Lights 4) Bright Conditions 2) Obstacles to traffic information 1)Billboards 2)Double Deckers 3)Fog 4)Trees 5)Rain on the wind screen 3) Missing the road signs Video, government’s website and survey reveals that: Need a system to provide instant traffic information

To Provide drivers with: A. General Traffic Information: 1) Speed Limit 2) Road sign 3) Location 4) Traffic light status 5) Weather condition 6) Map of surrounding streets

B. Emergent Warning: 1) Accidents 4) Traffic Jam 3) Road blockage 6) Poor Weather Condition 2) Landslides 5) Letting way to emergency vehicles

So that drivers can drive more safely and conveniently

Central Server

Client’s Display

Advantages: Traffic safety promoted Knowing traffic condition in advance Get information more easily by artificial sound Interactive communication between the car and the central server Drivers’ privacy protected

Further Development 1) Windscreen projection 2) Integration with dashboard and console 3) A central system controlled by a company or government 4) Integration with GPS

Objective: Provide drivers with: General Traffic Information 1)Speed Limit 2)Road Sign 3)Location 4)Traffic light status 5)Weather condition 6)Map of surrounding streets Emergency Traffic Warning: 1)Accidents 2)Traffic Jam 3)Road blockage 4)Poor Weather Condition 5)Lanslides 6)Letting way to emergency vehicles Further Development: 1)Windscreen projection 2)Integration with dashboard and console 3)A central system controlled by a company or government 4)Optical fibres for better transmittion 5)Integration with GPS

Ways of integration -In towns where there are a lot of buildings, underground signal emitting system should be used. - In countryside, GPS should be used.

Advantage of GPS over underground signal emitting system - Low Costs - Need not change the structure of the roads Disadvantage of GPS - Subject to movement or destruction by environment factors. - Limited precision. - Complicated. - Limited Coverage. - Easily blocked by tall buildings.

Disadvantages of GPS - Subject to movement or destruction by environment factors. - Limited precision. - Complicated. - Limited Coverage. - Easily blocked by tall buildings.
