Plan of the Study ● Descriptive: Age, tumor size, type & histological grade, number of positive lymph nodes. ● Analytical: Modification of these variables threw time. Relations between variables. ● Comparative: Cases between July 1991 & June 1999.
Material & Methodes Data collection -> Pathology registers Exclusion criterias: -> Male patients -> Neoadjuvant therapy -> Biopsy before surjery. Histological grading -> Scarff-Bloom- Richardson (SBR) Statistical analysis -> SPSS 11.0®
Results Average age -> 53.6 yrs, no variation linked to time Tumor size -> constant 3.2 cm Infiltrating ductal carcinoma the most frequent, Grade III (SBR) Number of postive lymph nodes + histological grading increase along with tumor size.
Age Average age -> 53.6 yrs Most frequent age section -> yrs Age -/-> Time
Tumor size variation between 1991 & Study Current study
Tumor size ≤ 1 cm
Carcinoma in situ
Variation of positive lymph nodes from 1991 till 2006 Number of positive lymph nodes 2000 studyCurrent study
Conclusion Stability of tumor size over the years including ≤ 1 cm => uneffective screening strategies + poor educational programs. Solutions: -> Well organized national screening programs. -> Extensive clinical & pathological studies. -> Educational & advertising campaigns. -> Initiation of all women for breast self- examination test.
