Company LOGO Ways of Communicating in Australia Developed by

By using a mobile phone In Australia they are called mobile phones. In some countries they are called cell phones.

By using landline telephones  These are telephones which are in your home. They can be called either landline or home phones.

By using the internet on either your computer or mobile phone

By using International Phone Cards to contact friends and family overseas.

Who supplies the services in Australia  In Australia private companies own mobile phone companies, landline/home phone companies and internet companies.  Some companies will provide all services. Others will just provide one service.

Important things you need to know  Sometimes you can get one bill for your mobile phone, your landline or internet service.  Some companies arrange for you to get internet, a mobile phone and/or a landline together. This is called “bundling.” You only get one bill but it may be for three different services.

What we hope you will understand by the end of the course:  The different ways you can communicate in Australia.  How to understand what you are buying.  How to understand what you are paying for.  How to ask for help and where to go for help if you have problems.  What types of things can cause problems and how you can avoid them.

Happy Communicating
