 In 1970, Marcian Hoff, and engineer, invented the microprocessor, an entire CPU on a single chip. The replacement of several larger components by one microprocessor made possible the fourth generation of computers.

 Computers have two types of memory contained on chips..ROM and RAM!!

 ROM- Read only memory, enables the computer to complete simple jobs such as placing a character on the screen or checking he keyboard to see if any keys have been pressed.

 RAM- Random Access Memory, is a temporary memory where data and instructions can be stored.

 The first computer was invented in 1936 by a man named Konrad Zuse. The computer was called a Z1 Computer.
