Let’s review first… skim through… 2

Narrative Poetry Tells a story. Has characters, setting, and a plot. The Raven Once upon a midnight dreary, While I pondered weak and weary… “The Raven” tells a story – it has a setting, plot and characters (the speaker and a raven). 3

Ballad From “The Dying Cowboy” Let sixteen gamblers come handle my coffin, Let sixteen young cowboys come sing me a song, Take me to the green valley and lay the sod o’er me, For I’m a poor cowboy and I know I’ve done wrong.
