William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon. He went to the King’s New School while his Dad was mayor. He was the third child of seven children and the oldest boy. He married Anne Hathaway in 1582 when he was 18 and she was 26. They had three children. She lived in Stratford-upon-Avon while he lived in London. Shakespeare joined the Lord Chamberlain’s company in 1590 and became part owner of the Globe Theatre. He died on his birthday in 1616 and his plays were not published until In 1558 Queen Elizabeth I was crowned after both her brother and sister died on the throne. She returned the country to the Church of England and barred Catholics from existing.
