The Idaho Dataset and the National Trauma Data Standards

Idaho Trauma Registry Background Established by Idaho Code § All acute care hospitals All patients meeting inclusion criteria Injury surveillance system At minimum identify Access to care issues Performance of emergency medical systems Costs of trauma care Outcomes for trauma victims

Inclusion Criteria Include: Dislocations, sprains, strains, fractures Open wounds / Crushing injuries Internal injuries / Intracranial injuries Drowning / nonfatal submersions Asphyxiation / strangulation Electric current Additionally: Admission as in-patient Transfer between acute care hospitals by EMS Death

ITR Dataset and Data Dictionary Developed by TRAC Minimum dataset (147 items) Hospitals – NTR (all common elements), TRAC (Idaho-specific elements) EMS – PCR / NEMSIS Transportation – VCR Vital Statistics – death certificate
