Oracle Supports All Asset Types Fixed Plant Buildings & Grounds IT Oracle Supports All Asset Types Let us begin by defining an asset. For this discussion, an ‘asset’ means any physical object that requires maintenance/service and/or tracking. Typically an asset has a capital value and depending on financial ownership it may be financially represented in Fixed Assets of a company’s book. However from a maintenance & service perspective, an asset is an object of value that an organization needs to track, maintain and manage irrespective of financial ownership and value. Given this definition, assets can be broadly classified into fur types as represented in this asset quadrant. On the upper left are assets of type ‘Fixed Plant’ or ‘Static asset’s’. These are assets that may exist in any plant like manufacturing, refinery etc. Examples are machines, equipment, robotic arms. These assets are static because their location rarely changes. The lower left quadrant represents ‘mobile assets’. These are assets that frequently move across locations and an organization usually may have more than one instance of such similar assets. Examples include fleet, vehicles, and spare parts that may be similar in configuration but are dispersed across different locations. Upper right quadrant represents linear assets that are physically continuous in nature and are tracked/maintained in segments. On the lower right are the infrastructure type assets such as buildings, street lights, university campuses etc. Linear/Network Mobile/Fleet
