 Bachelor’s Degree  Teaching Credential What does it take to become a teacher? What do you need to earn a Bachelor’s Degree? Complete the General Education (GE) requirements Complete the requirements for a major Accumulate at least 120 units (most classes are three units)

General Education To build a comprehensive foundation of knowledge it is essential to earn 51 units of G eneral E ducation on the path to your degree from CSUF. Subject Matter Competency All teachers need to prove they “know their stuff” in their subject areas. Middle/High School Teachers: State Exam (CSET) OR State Approved Program of Study (SSMPP)

13 Basic Skills Requirement CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test) OR ELM and EPT –Score 50 or above on ELM –Score 147 or above on EPT –You must have taken the tests and received a score. “Exempt” does not count! OR EAP –Taken junior year of high school –Must earn “college ready” or “exempt” –“Conditionally exempt” does not count –NO MIXING AND MATCHING OF SCORES!!!
