Primary school STAGE I called integrated teaching with one teacher STAGE II with different teachers teaching: Polish language, History and cicics, one modern foreign language, Maths, Science, Music, Art, Technology, Computer Technology, Physical Education, Religion/Ethics, All students take an exam after sixth class and get points – the highest amount is 40.
Compulsory secondary education Lower secondary education– Gymnasium - duration: Three years Curriculum: Polish language, two modern foreign languages, History, Civic education, Mathematics, Physics and astronomy, Chemistry, Geography, Biology, Fine art/Music, Computer science, Physical education, Technology All students take an exam after a gymnasium devided into: Polish, History, Maths, Science and a foreign language.
Upper Secondary Education: General School, Technical Secondary School, Vocational Secondary students finish with Maturity Examination. ( Compulsory – Polish, Mathematics, Foreign language, free choice of other two or three subjects ) If they pass they get Maturity Certificate. If they fail they get a Certificate of completion the school. If students have a Maturity Certificate they can continue their education at universities, academies, colleges.
School year for primary and secondary school starts on 1st September and finishes at the end of June. Grading system in primary and secondary school: 6 – excellent, 5 – very good, 4 – good, 3 – satisfactory, 2 – mediocre, 1 - fail
