Focus and talking points “ We Launch Rockets! ”

Monday’s Focus – Advisory Goals: a) To establish protocols for students on campus before and after school. b) To ensure students are safe on campus at all times. Expectations for before the 8:25 bell: Once IDs are distributed, they must be worn (to include all before school activities, tutoring, and meetings) All students must report to the cafeteria or courtyard Once students arrive on campus, they are not to leave the campus to go to area convenience stores or restaurants No loitering in the halls Students must discard outside drink containers upon arrival to school. Water contained in clear water bottles are allowed. Before/After School Expectations

Monday’s Focus – Advisory Expectations for after school: Once IDs are distributed, they must be worn (to include all afterschool activities, etc., athletic events) Students must exit the building within 10 minutes after the release bell unless student is attending tutoring. Once you exit the building you will not be allowed to re-enter without a pass. Only students who ride the bus home will be allowed in the bus loop area. If you do not ride the bus, do not loiter in this area. If a student is at the bus loop after buses depart, they ust walk around the building to get to the front. Students will not be allowed to cut through the cafeteria or courtyard to get to the front of the campus. Before/After School Expectations

Monday’s Focus – every period We have a large campus, and with a five minute passing period, it is important that all students adhere to two basic rules: o Walk and talk o Stay to the right Walk and talk o As you go from class to class, you need to keep moving. If you stop and group up in an area, it keeps others from moving smoothly. Please keep moving from one class to the next. Stay to the right o In the hallways, stay to the right hand side. With 3600+, we need to keep it smooth. Hallway Movement and Traffic

Monday’s Focus – every period Be courteous and polite as you move through the hallways. If teacher/administrators ask you to keep moving, keep moving. Go the restroom, get a drink, and keep moving. Hallway Movement and Traffic

Monday’s Focus – every period Hall Pass Protocol Goals: a) Hall Pass procedures utilized to maximize instructional time b) To maintain a safe learning environment for everyone. The following will be the protocol students will follow for the 2014/15 school year: Two elements must be present when a student is in a hallway. Purpose- The student must have a viable purpose for transitioning during instructional time. Pass – The student must possess a pass from a teacher approving the student out of class.

Monday’s Focus – every period Hall Pass Protocol Allowable passes include: o Nurse Pass o Library Pass o Paper Hallway Pass Teachers will utilize a log to document students as they leave and reenter the classroom to ensure maximum instructional time.

Monday’s Focus – every period Hall Pass Protocol The “10-10” Rule will be in effect this school year. That is, students will not be allowed to leave the classroom for the first ten minutes of instruction and the last ten minutes of instruction. This will best allow the classroom teacher to provide the instructional focus for all students to begin the class and to assess student performance to end the class. There should only be one student out of class at a time.

Monday’s Focus – every period Hall Pass Protocol Students observed in the hallways without a pass will be directed or escorted to the nearest Student Services Office. Students should move only to their destination and then straight back. There should be no wandering. Teachers will periodically follow up with coworkers regarding appropriate use of hall pass. Frequent hall pass requests by particular students will be addressed by the nurse, librarian, and/or administration.

If you miss more than nine days in a class, you need to attend tutoring to recover hours. You will need to get the proper form from your administrator or counselor. Focus and talking points “ We Launch Rockets! ”

Thursday’s Focus – every period Safety Procedures The following information is to prepare our students in the event of an unusual occurrence on our campus. It is important, no matter what the situation, to remain calm and follow any and all instructions. Building Evacuation Review the information in your red Building Evacuation Procedure folder Discuss evacuation routes as posted in your classroom  Primary route  Secondary route What you will use to identify your location to your class in the evacuation location (Hold up an item so that your students can locate you– an umbrella or some other easily identified item) Class must stay together; it is not a social gathering.

Thursday’s Focus – every period Safety Procedures Lockdowns (three different levels) Level One Lockdown: This is the state that we are at every day all day. Except for the main entrances, the doors are locked, and everyone must check in with office upon entering or before exiting the building. Level Two Lockdown: The announcement for this is: “Lockdown, lockdown, lockdown!” This is used anytime we need to keep the students out of the hallways. During this time, classes resume as normal, just no one is to be in the hallways. We use this level of lockdown when there may be action in the area that could infiltrate the campus, or it could be as simple as a stray animal in the hallway and we need to keep the students away until the situation is cleared.

Thursday’s Focus – every period Safety Procedures Lockdowns (three different levels) Level Three Lockdown: The announcement for this is: “Intruder, intruder, intruder!” This is the level that it used when there is an intruder in the building. Doors are all secured, classrooms lights are off, windows are covered, and no one goes in or out without the knowledge of the school administration or Law Enforcement. If you see something wrong… REPORT IT! If you notice something not right-- a loose wire, a strange person, water spilled on the floor, a broken window-- TELL A TEACHER

The Alma Mater “Above the broad Texas plain Soar our rockets ever high Bringing glory and honor As they pass all others by. Hail to thee our Alma Mater. Hail to thee, Oh, Judson High. With our voices loud and clear, We will praise thee to the sky. With our voices loud and clear, We will praise thee TO THE SKY!!”
