TOOLS TO USE IN THE CLASSROOM BY: KRISSI SLOMA

TOOLS TO USE IN THE CLASSROOM Some tools that can be used in the classroom are: PowerPoint presentations Concept maps/webs

TOOLS TO USE IN THE CLASSROOM (CONT.) Podcasts Interactive Whiteboards

HOW THESE TOOLS CAN HELP AID STUDENT’S IN LEARNING Interactive Whiteboards are great to use They allow students to interact with the information they are learning Podcasts Podcasts allow students to go back and listen to lectures after they hear it in class – allows students to hear the information again to understand the information more Concept maps are great to help students see connections between information Allows students to see how information about a topic connects to the other information about that topic

HOW THESE TOOLS CAN HELP AID STUDENT’S IN LEARNING PowerPoint presentations PowerPoints allow you to lay out the information in bullet point format Allows you to get the important information out there, and then you talk more about that point Allows students to learn the information and take notes, but also allows them to get more information on what the bullet points touch on Digital Storytelling Good for relaying information using images Allows students to relate information to the images to better understand the information

WHERE TO FIND THESE TOOLS Many of these tools can be found online For podcasts, Audacity is a great, user-friendly tool To make concept maps, Cmap is a good tool A little bit of a learning curve, but it becomes very easy to use when you get the hang of it For interactive whiteboards, there is a good website to get lessons from Site allows teacher to find games to use on their interactive whiteboard
