Learning Challenges Supply clean air directly to the user from a source other than the air surrounding the user. Three types: Air-Supplied Respirators: makes use of a hose to deliver clean, safe air from a stationary source of compressed air. Combination Respirators: have an auxiliary self-contained air supply that can be used if the primary supply fails. Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus: consists of a wearable, clean-air supply pack. Air-Supplied Combination Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Atmosphere supplying Respiratory Protection

Learning Challenges Hand Protection NEVER REUSE DISPOSABLE GLOVES

Learning Challenges Have filters, cartridges, or canisters that remove contaminants from the air by passing the ambient air through the air- purifying element before it reaches the user. Three types: Particulate Respirators: capture particles in the air, such as dusts, mists, and fumes. Combination Respirators: are normally used in atmospheres that contain hazards of both particulates and gases. Gas & Vapor Respirators: are normally used when there are only hazardous gases and vapors in the air. Particulate Combination Gas & Vapor Air purifying Respiratory Protection

Learning Challenges Feet Protection Have impact-resistant toes and heat-resistant soles that protect against hot surfaces common in roofing, paving, and hot metal industries. When welding and/or cutting, high top (minimum 6”) boot that are covered by the pant leg shall be worn. May be designed to be electrically conductive for use in explosive atmospheres, or nonconductive to protect from workplace electrical hazards.

Learning Challenges Your challenge Safety Inspector Your job is to inspect the Material Testing Laboratory at a Metal Machining and Product Fabrication Company. You are looking for safety measures and safety violations. You are given a Safety Checklist of things to look for. Inspect each picture and note if the safety requirements from the list are met. If not, suggest what should be done to correct the violation(s).
