Presentation transcript:

1. TEST TUBE  Used for heating and mixing small quantities of chemicals

2. BEAKER  Used for heating and mixing large quantities of chemicals

3. FUNNEL  Used to transfer liquids and powders from one container to another

4. ERLENMEYER FLASK  Used for dissolving and mixing chemicals which must be protected from unnecessary air contact; mix by gently swirling; identified by its tapered sides and flat bottom.

5. FLORENCE FLASK  Used for boiling and distilling; identified by its round bottom.

6. FORCEPS  Used to pick up objects to avoid contact with one’s hand; looks like tweezers

7. TEST TUBE HOLDER  Clamps onto the test tube and is held in the hand to support the test tube in mixing and heating.

8. TEST TUBE BRUSH  Is inserted into the test tube to clean the test tube.

9. RUBBER STOPPER  Used as a top on various kinds of glassware; can be solid or with 1 or 2 holes.

10. GRADUATED CYLINDER  Used to measure liquid in milliliters.

11. RING CLAMP  Metal rings used to hold a funnel or to support glassware over a flame.

12. RING STAND  Used to hold ring clamps and test tube clamps

13. GLASS STIRRING ROD  Slender piece of glass used to mix chemicals

14. METRIC RULER  Used to measure the length of flat surfaces that can not be bent. Measure in centimeters or millimeters.

15. PETRI DISH  Used to hold objects for observation

16. DROPPER  Used to measure drops of a liquid.

17. TRIPLE BEAM BALANCE  Used to measure mass. The unit is in grams.

18. HAND LENS  Held in the hand and used to make objects appear larger so that small details are easier to see.

19.BUNSEN BURNER  Uses natural gas to provide a flame in the lab.

20. MICROSCOPE  Used to see small things that cannot be seen with the naked eye or hand lens

21. TEST TUBE CLAMP  Used to hold a test tube over a flame by attaching it to the ring stand.

22. THERMOMETER  Used to measure temperature in degrees Celsius.

23. DISSECTING PAN  A tray that is used to contain the specimen while dissecting

24. DISSECTING PINS  Used to secure the specimen onto the dissecting pan to ensure no movement.

25. SCALPEL  Extremely sharp dissecting tool used for slicing the specimen.

26. SCISSORS  Used to cut the specimen while dissecting.

27. DISSECTING NEEDLE  Dissecting tool used to hold or scrape the dissecting specimen.

28. SPRING SCALE  Equipment used to measure force in newtons.

EYE WASH STATION  provided in all labs to flood eye with water for 15 minutes to remove foreign materials and to dilute any harmful chemical.

FIRE BLANKET  Used to smother out a fire, can be used to wrap around an individual, smother a table surface fire, or smother a fire in a waste basket.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER  used to put out small chemical or paper fires. In case of major fires, signal alarm and evacuate building, using fire drill procedures.

SAFETY GOGGLES  They are vital to the safety of your vision.  Wear them when heating, when working with chemicals or at any time you are instructed to do so by your teacher.

MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET  contain important information about the chemicals you use in lab.

LAB APRON  rubber coated and acid- resistant, alcohol- resistant and has a better oil-resistance than natural rubber
