IUID – Future Policy As agreed by the Joint Logistics Board in April 2010, IUID marking requirements (for both legacy assets and new procurements) to be incorporated in revised DODI include: – Government Furnished Property – End items – Depot Level Reparables – Nuclear weapons-related materiel (NWRM) – Small arms/Light weapons – Classified items – Sensitive items – Mission essential items (end items assigned essentiality code A and secondary items assigned essentiality code 1) – Pilferable items with an acquisition value greater than $5000 – Critical Safety Items with an acquisition value greater than $5000 – Current serially managed items, including items in Unique Item Tracking programs. – Any other secondary item that the materiel manager or program manager decides to serially manage. Secondary items which do not meet any of the above criteria, and where property accountability requirements are met by determining the quantity on- hand, are not required to be IUID marked and registered. 1

IUID Indicator New field in the Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS) – Field to be available in 2013 – One-position, Yes/No field – Standard field for DoD-wide use Service/Agency systems will need to create ability to accept the indicator Initial use – identification of IUID NSNs, enabling improved tracking of IUID assets to be marked Proposed future uses – Trigger inclusion of DFARS IUID contract clause – Prompt IT systems to include UII in DLMS transactions (Not applicable to MILSTRIP/MILSTRAP formats) ERPs Storage depots DAAS 3
