FBI Citizens' Academy Program The Citizens’ Academy is an eight-week outreach program for business, education, religious, civic, and community leaders that provides an inside look at the FBI’s mission, goals, and objectives. Presentations and hands-on exercises are designed to demystify the organization and create new channels for working together and sharing information. Candidates may be nominated by FBI employees, members of the FBI Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association, community partners, or via self-nomination. Introduction (Tammy A. Peter): Community Outreach Specialist Tammy Peter joined the FBI in She serves as the main point of contact for the Albuquerque Division's outreach operations and activities. Her areas of responsibility include prevention and awareness programs, partnerships, and national engagement. Ms. Peter is also a member of Albuquerque's Evidence Response Team which is a special FBI program that ensures evidence is collected in such a manner that it can be introduced in courts throughout the U.S. and the world.

Tai Chi for Health - An Introduction To “Tai Chi” This seminar will cover a brief history and explanation of Tai Chi as well as its health benefits. A demonstration of Tai Chi will be given as well as audience participation. Basic warm-ups and postures will be taught to the participants. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing for this seminar. Instructor: Sifu Tom Kao

2010 Professional Qualifications Tom Kao Biographical Information Sifu Kao is a native to Albuquerque, New Mexico His parents were from Mainland, China and eventually immigrated to the United States He began his martial arts training in New Mexico since 1975 Mr. Kao has been married 22 years and has 2 daughters Studies Since 1987 Sifu Kao ’ s instruction of the Yang Style Tai Chi has been developed through the teachings of Doc Fei Wong, Terence Dunn and Dr. Yang Jwing Ming His foundation of training is in Kenpo Karate; an eclectic Southern Chinese System derived from several Kung Fu styles, and has studied for 35 years He is also a senior member of Hung Gar Kung Fu, a traditional Southern Chinese System and has been active in this style since 1993 Sifu Kao also trained in the Filipino Martial Arts known as Escrima since 1994 and has knowledge in the Derobio, Serrada and Lamenco Systems Teaching History Sifu Kao opened his martial arts school in 1984 and subsequently founded his own system (Karate Institute of Chinese Kenpo). Although the primary roots taught in his system are based on the Kenpo structure, he incorporates all disciplines in his teachings at his school. He teaches both private and group classes He currently instructs Tai Chi Chuan at Defined Fitness for beginner and advanced students He also held Tai Chi sessions at Old Town Plaza which was contracted through the City of Albuquerque Sifu Kao taught after school martial arts programs to APS schools Volunteer Work He taught Tai Chi seminars for the Multiple Sclerosis Society His martial arts school participated and donated to special fund raising events for both the St. Jude Children ’ s Research Hospital and the Muscular Dystrophy Association He volunteered at the Annual Wheelchair Summer Camp by offering classes for handicapped children He offered Women ’ s Self Defense Classes through the City of Albuquerque Sifu Kao is well known in the Martial Arts Community and has participated in martial arts tournaments as head judge and also the director for the Chinese Martial Arts Division at the NM Games He is the founder and director of the GUARD DOGS (Giving United Assistance & Reflecting Devotion by Dads Over Grounds Security) through APS, a program that provides student security and safety initiatives Sifu Kao is also a Mentor for APS through the YDI program Accreditations Currently holds a 7 th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate Also obtained a 2 nd Degree Black Belt in Derobio Escrima Senior ranking in Hung Gar Kung Fu Currently holds a security clearance through APS He is also currently CPR and AED certified Memberships He is an active member of the American Chuan Fa Society And of the Chin Wu Athletic Association of the Philippines
