1 Reading Action Program: A Call to Action for Lions Increase literacy among children and adults Improve access to education Bridge the digital divide Place new emphasis on existing Lions programs, including service for people with vision loss

2 Lions Response under Reading Action Program Activities To date, Lions reported over 78,000 RAP activities. Service Hours Reporting clubs dedicated nearly 2.6 million hours to RAP activities. People Served Lions served over 6.9 million people through RAP projects that were reported since July 2012.

3 Reading Action Program - Africa The Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club in Nigeria distributed books to over 50 children in six local schools. The Bushenyi Lions club in Uganda partnered with the Bushenyi Lions club in commemoration of International Literacy Day to organize a Reading Action Program project at the Nyabutobo primary school in Sheema. The Potchefstroom Lions club in South Africa visited a homeless shelter and donated over 200 books to instill Adult literacy and education.

4 Reading Action Program Mexico Three schools in Mexico received 300 new books. Lions promoted literacy through storytelling.

5 Reading Action Program Lions hosted a school program that focused on the importance of parental involvement. Peru

6 Reading Action Program Thailand Mobile library provides easier access to books. Korea New library in elementary school provided 2,200 books

7 Reading Action Program A Lions vision screening enabled 83 children to receive eyeglasses. Lions donated Braille books to vision impaired students. Philippines

8 Reading Action Program India Lions built a computer wing at a local school to provide access to technology.

9 Reading Action Program Lions and Leos recorded old stories and fairy tales for visually impaired children Finland

10 Reading Action Program A Lions club collected over 400 books for elementary school students. Lions read to children at the local library and at after-school programs United States

11 Launching joint initiatives with global development agencies in resource-limited settings. Working with publishers and reading experts to distribute books to children that need them the most. Collaborating with schools, advocacy groups, and technology experts to develop additional resources for individuals with vision loss. Expansion of Lions Partnerships
