Green Home By Joe Conran, Jake Hollingsworth, and Brad Greipp

WIND Wind turbines work by the wind spinning the windmill which turns a turbine which creates electricity Advantages –It’s cleaner, renewable, free and energy increases exponentially Disadvantages higher initial cost, doesn’t work with out wind, And there is a higher initial cost

Green Roof Green Roof’s are used to insolate a house from the heat and cold. It is a bunch of plants or grasses that you put on the roof to absorb the sunlight. It dramatically reduces the amount of energy used to moderate the temperature of the house. Advantages Lower Electricity Bills, Less energy used Disadvantages Aesthetically unpleasing, Higher initial cost

Passive Solar Heating Passive Solar Heating works by using the design of the house so that, in the summer, when the sun is higher in the sky, the roof blocks all sunlight coming through the giant windows in the house, however, in the winter, when the sun is low in the sky, the sunlight comes through the windows and is absorbed by a special material on the inside walls, in this case, stone. Advantages: Low heating cost, All heat is natural, less environmental damage Disadvantages Unreliable, Doesn’t work in some weather conditions, house has to be made special

Evaporative Cooler is a device that cools air through the simple evaporation of water. Evaporative cooling differs from air conditioning by refrigeration and absorptive refrigeration, which use vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycles. Advantages: Less expensive to install and operate, easy maintenance Disadvantages: does not remove humidity from air isnt removed needs a lot of water
