Presentation transcript:

g Legend IP GE Security Product Photo or Graphic Here Introduction The ‘This is GE 2004’ PowerPoint provides a new tool for managers and business leaders to communicate with their teams, clients, and partners. The presentation uses a template that is just one part of a communications strategy, including the advertising campaign and Annual Report. Together, these three items demonstrate a consistent visual style and tone for GE communications.   Following are a few guidelines for how to optimize your use of the ‘This is GE’ PowerPoint template. These guidelines are intended to help you speak to each of the sections included, and give you ideas on how to customize presentations to best suit your needs. The consistent application of these guidelines will simplify the time and effort required to assemble presentations while also strengthening the unity and coherence of all Company presentations. How to Use this Template This presentation is meant to serve as a foundation to help your customers, employees and partners understand GE and the role and offerings of your business within the broader company. It is always important to customize your presentation for your audience. If you are talking to customers, make sure you highlight the information relevant to their industry. If you are recruiting on a college campus, find ways to incorporate the school and/or prospective job function into the presentation. To function as a high-level overview, the presentation is composed of a series of modules that can be added or subtracted based on your audience, length of presentation and other considerations. Together these modules present a clear story of the company while allowing for more in-depth information on your business. Therefore the modules should form the backbone of your presentation, but may be minimized to accommodate different audiences or purposes. We have included recommendations on the two core aspects of the template: 1)      Template pages – this section provides an overview of the types of pages included in the document and how they should be used to help you customize as needed. 2)      Presentation script – this section provides talking points for each of the modules as a recommended script to supplement your presentation. To maintain a cohesive and clear presentation, use the templates as a visual guide. The slides have an intentionally clean style to make sure that core messages are understood. Avoid overloading pages with too much copy or detailed visuals that cannot be read—these only hinder your presentation as viewers try to read while you speak. If supplemental information is needed, consider creating a leave-behind document with a notes section or supplemental slides with additional information. Template Page Types There are five core page types used in the “This is GE” template. Together, these pages provide a range of flexibility for use of varied text styles, imagery and data while maintaining a consistent feel. Each page type is differentiated by the style of information it is intended to convey: Title Pages Title pages are intended as opening or closing slides, or breaks between presentation topics. Narrative Pages Narrative pages deliver the core text of the presentation and can be supplemented with images or data. Image Pages Image pages establish mood and create visual impact. Business Pages Business Pages provide a summary view of each of GE’s businesses. Overview Pages Overview pages are used to provide at-a-glance summaries or diagrams of business structures, offerings, etc. Title Page Guidelines (Ex: See pg.2) Title pages are comprised of only two elements; 1) a single title or sentence, and 2) a blue background. These pages are intended to deliver key messages and introduce new topics throughout the presentation. Title page content should consist of big-picture ideas or philosophical points that form the key points of the presentation. These pages reflect the key take-aways that the presentation is intended to deliver. To test your presentation, try reading just the title pages to see if they deliver the overall message of your presentation. Narrative Page Guidelines (Ex: See pg.3, 5) Narrative pages will likely form the majority of most presentations. These pages are intended to support a linear series of thoughts throughout the presentation. Because narrative pages will form a higher percentage of most presentations, two variations of the page are available. Each page will have two columns, with the right-hand column reserved for an image or data: 1)      Narrative: 1 column copy, 1 column data 2)      Narrative: 1 column copy, 1 column image Image Page Guidelines (Ex: See pg.15) Image pages create visual interest and impact to energize presentations. For that reason, these pages are simple and uncluttered in design. Each Image page consists of two elements; 1) a single sentence, and 2) a GE business image (people or product.) Business Page Guidelines (Ex: See pg.25) Business Pages provide at-a-glance summary information for each of GE’s businesses. Business pages help to differentiate and clarify each business through the use of imagery, information on key products and services, markets served and annual revenues. Each page contains the following types of information: 1)      Headline: Identifies the business 2)      Definition: Defines the business offering 3)      Quick facts: Details the market segments served 4)      Leader and revenue: Identifies the business leader and annual revenues. Overview Page Guidelines (Ex: See pg.24 and 40) Overview pages reflect diagrams or processes to provide at-a-glance information. Overview pages will generally consist of two elements, 1) a headline and 2) a graphic or flow-chart. When needed, supplemental copy may be presented under the graphic as shown on page 40. g
