Identification of personal problems and ways to solve the problems

Personal problems I.Feel stressed easily II.Too nervous when doing presentation III.Always feel sleepy during class IV.Unable to complete the task that given on time V.Problem in communicating with Malay friends VI.Get sick easily VII. unable to save extra money every month

Ways to overcome my personal problems I.Feel stressed easily In my opinion, I am a student who will get stressed easily, especially in my study and during examination. I always feel stressed in revising my study because I scared that I have no enough time in completing all my revision. I also feel stressed when I do not understand certain topic that have been taught by the lecturers. I will even feel stressed when the exam is around the corner. Ways to solve the problem: In order to reduce stress, I have plan a timetable for myself so that I can allocate time efficiently for my revision. This timetable also can be a tool to remind me in early preparation of exam so that I can finish all my revision before exam is started. Besides that, I also invite my other friends in doing a study group so that we are able to change opinion among ourselves and everyone will be more understanding about certain subject through the study group.

II. Too nervous when doing presentation When I am doing presentation in front of the class, whether presenting a project or presenting an educational topic, I will feel very scared and feel very nervous until my voice also become nervous when speaking. As a results, I am not able to speak fluently when doing presentation in front of the class and sometime even forget any important key points that need to be delivered while having presentation as I am too nervous at that moment of time. Ways to overcome the situation: In order to avoid that kind of situation to be occurred, I have practiced repeatedly in speaking in front of the mirror so that I can observe the way I am speaking and learn to be more confident while speaking. Furthermore, I also try to overcome my nervousness by asking help from my friends to be my good listeners and judgers at the same time. I will try my best while doing my presentation in front of my friends and after done my presentation, I will seek for the feedback and opinions from my friends in improving my presentation.

III. Always feel sleepy during class When attending class in campus UKM, especially early in the morning, I always feel so sleepy in class and sometime even fall asleep in class when lecturer is still teaching. This causes me always lose lots of important points that have been given by lecturers during the class and sometime may also be scolded by the lecturers in class. Ways to solve the problem: In order to avoid from falling asleep in class, I always remind myself to sleep earlier every night and try to avoid studying until midnight. Besides that, I also make sure that I eat breakfast every morning before attending to the class so that I will be more energetic in doing work and able to pay attention in class.

IV. Unable to complete the task that given on time Sometime I also face the difficulties in completing the task that have been given by lecturers and unable to pass up on time. This is because I do not understand clearly about the task that have been given by lecturers in class and do not know the correct solutions to complete the task. Furthermore, sometime I am also busy participating in co-curricular activities until I don’t have enough time in completing the task that given and lastly unable to pass up to the lecturers on time. Ways to solve the problem: To make sure that I can complete the task given on time, I try to request some guidance from other friends in giving explanation for me so that I can be more understanding on how to complete the task that given. Besides, I also try to invite other friends in doing group discussion so that we can exchange our idea or understanding and cooperate in completing the task if a group task is given. Other than that, I also learned to allocate the time efficiently between studying and participating co-curricular activities so that I can complete the task given as well as possible.

V. Problem in communicating with Malay friends I also faced some problems in communicating with other friends from different races, especially Malay friends when I first entering the university. This is because before I enter university, I have studied at Chinese secondary school and only get close to the Chinese friends. As a result, I do not have an idea on how to build a good relationship with the Malay students when first I entering the university. Ways to overcome the problem: In order to build a good relation with Malay friends, I have learn to be open-mindedness person and try to accept all the culture and religion of Malay friends. Besides, I will also try to lend a helping hand to Malay friends when they need help. For example, when my Malay coursemate in class ask for my help in teaching them the subject which they don’t understand very well, I will try my best in giving them explanation so that they will be more understanding about the subject. Indirectly, this enables me to build a strong friendship with my Malay friends.

VI. Get sick easily When entering university, I always get sick easily, especially flu or influenza. This may due to my immune system getting worse and worse as I don’t practice an appropriate eating habit when starting my university life. Besides that, I get stressed easily when facing educational problems and this may also worsen my immune system. Ways to solve the problem: In order to avoid getting sick easily, I have forced myself to exercise about 3 times a week to increase my immune system. If I have full classes from Monday to Friday, I will also make sure that I will exercise on Saturday and Sunday by jogging around the Tasik Titiwangsa. Furthermore, I also try to change my eating habits by eating more fruits and vegetables everyday and avoid foods that are high in fat and unhealthy, such as fried chicken, fast food and junk food.

VII. Unable to save extra money every month One of the problems that I faced every month during my study in university is that I spend too much of money until no extra money for savings, especially after paying all the hostel fee and educational fee. This may due to I like to spend money by eating outside with friends at least twice a week, for example at Berjaya Time Square or Pavilion. Moreover, I also like to spend money in buying dress or shirts once I have chance to go outing with friends. Ways to solve the problem: In order to save money, I have decide to spend most of time to eat in my own campus or hostel as the foods sold in café are much cheaper compared to foods selling outside. I only decide to eat outside when there is a special event like during my friend’s birthday. Besides that, I also try to avoid buying new dress or shirts while go outing with friends so that I can reduce my spending cost and able to save extra money for later used.
