The Specific Nature of the 10 Commandments 1.The 10 commandments were for a specific people – Israel. Exodus 19:5-6 Deuteronomy 5:1-5 It was a covenant relationship between God and Israel. (Exodus 24:3-8) Deuteronomy 4: The 10 commandments were for a specific purpose – holiness. Leviticus 20:22-26 Galatians 3: The 10 commandments were for a specific time frame – till the Messiah should come. Galatians 3:15-18, Colossians 2:13-14 Hebrews 8:13
