Introduction It is a process whereby a person purposefully assist another to better handle his or her problems. It is mutual trust and understanding. A process involves you speaking about your issues openly and honestly.

Decision-making approach The counselor can explore with the statement, “we can’t decide for you-you must make up your own mind.” It is a complex in that individuals must apply their own values, interest, aptitude & other unique qualities to each decision. Eight steps are described in the context of group counseling
First step requires the individual to state the reason or problem that motivated him or her to seek career counseling Second step is to commit time Third step is to generate activity Fourth step is to collect information
Fifth step entails sharing information and estimating consequences Sixth step is entitled reevaluate and usually accomplished through group discussions
Seventh step is to decide tentatively Last step is in the career decision- making process is referred to as recycle
Using test in counseling Test are used in counseling for several purposes,the foremost being diagnosis. Some test are as used as self-evaluative devices. Many are also designed test like the Allport Vernon - Lindzey study of values fall under this category.
Tests are also designed for self-discovery & understanding like the strong vocational interest black(1943). The counselor has to administer the appropriate tests & diagnose the problem on the basis of test data.
