GAME MECHANICS

Game Description: It is an academic competition for the Dept of OB-GYN of various Hospitals involving their respective Residents (2nd, 3rd & 4th year residents) from the POGS 12 regional chapters. Contestants participating in this competition will be asked to answer questions in any of the following categories: 1.Ante partum & Post Partum Care, Fetus and Newborn 2.General Gynecology 3.Medical and Surgical Complications 4.Physiologic Obstetrics & Anatomy 5.Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility 6.Pathologic Obstetrics 7.Basic Science 8.Gynecologic Oncology It is a team-based competition, composed of 3 members per team. A preliminary round will commence and end with a Finals Round to determine the Quiz Bowl Champion.

MECHANICS There are regional competing team to be composed of 3 members (one 2nd,one 3rd & one 4th yr) who are duly accredited Residents of their respective Hospitals from the Dept. of OB GYN. Prior to the elimination competition, the Regional Directors shall submit in writing to the Organizing Committee the names of the Team Captain and Team Members. In the event that necessitates last minute substitution of a team member/s, the Resident substitute/s should be duly recommended by the Department Chair and approved by the Regional Director. The objective of the Elimination Competition is to choose the regional winner to compete in the Championship Competition against all four regional winners from NCR, LUZON, VISAYAS and MINDANAO.

MECHANICS There are two (2) rounds in the regional elimination competition. The team with the highest score will be the Regional Quiz Bowl Champion In the Championship Competition, the same format used in the elimination round will be adopted. The contestant should choose the best answer for each Question. Scoring will be based on difficulty level, which are as follows: Easy 10 pts Moderate 15 pts Difficult 20 pts

ROUND 1 - MECHANICS 1.The Quizmaster shall start the competition proper by launching the Quiz bowl system. The computer will randomly select the category from which the question will be asked. 2.Questions have been preloaded in the Quiz bowl system, based on category or degree of difficulty. 3.The Quiz bowl system will randomly generate the question. 4.The team should wait for the choices on screen. 5.The Answer must be given in ten (10) seconds. 6.At the end of the time period, the Quiz Master will ask all the teams to show their choices. 7.All Team captains shall answer the question by pressing the letter of their choice. 8.The correct answer will be flashed. 9.Each correct answer to the question will be awarded points. Easy 10 pts Moderate 15 pts Difficult 20 pts

ROUND 2 - MECHANICS 1.In round 2, SPEED is important. 2.All assigned team leaders should place their dominant hands over their chests. Questions will be randomly selected by the computer. 3.The Quizmaster shall read the question and possible answers. Teams are allowed to press their buzzer anytime if they know the answer. Note: The Buzzer set-up has been configured to allow only one team to be acknowledged. 4.The Team that pressed the buzzer first will have 5 secs to answer the question. If the answer is incorrect or the team was not able to answer within 5 secs, they will move one step backward to allow the other teams to STEAL. The remaining teams can answer ONLY when the question has been FULLY REREAD by the quiz master.

ROUND 2 – MECHANICS 4.During a STEAL, the team that presses the buzzer before the question has been FULLY REREAD by the quiz master losses the chance to steal. The quiz master will FULLY REREAD the question for the last time for the remaining teams. The Team that pressed the buzzer first will have 5 secs to answer the question. 5.Each correct answer to the question will have corresponding points. Easy 10 pts Moderate 15 pts Difficult 20 pts

The Team that pressed the buzzer first will have 5 secs to answer the question. If the answer is incorrect or the team was not able to answer within 5 secs, they will move one step backward to allow the other team to STEAL. The remaining team can answer ONLY when the question has been FULLY REREAD by the quiz master. Only one correct answer is needed to break the tie. 8.The same mechanics shall be applied to the Regional & Championship levels.
