Short answer essay 1. Why did the US use the Atomic bomb when it was apparent that we would defeat Japan without it? Although the US would probably defeat Japan an invasion of Japan would require a period of direct combat that would lead a large number of US casualties. It was believed that dropping the bomb would save up to 1,000,000 lives

2. What was the Holocaust and why did Hitler single out the Jews for destruction? The elimination of 6,000,000 Jews by Hitler as a scapegoat for the problems of Germany. Ex. death camps Describe
